What is Bachata Moderna?

Modern Bachata emerged in the 1990s and has become a popular global dance style. It evolved as dancers in the West, influenced by the success of Aventura and limited exposure to traditional Dominican bachata, blended what they knew of salsa and other dances.

•Steps: Uses basic side-to-side and forward-and-back steps.

•Moves: Incorporates turns, spins, hammerlocks, redirections, and dips.

•Style: Emphasizes dynamic footwork and showmanship, often danced to faster, more complex music influenced by pop, R&B, and hip hop.

•Position: Can be danced in both open and closed positions.

Modern Bachata is faster and flashier compared to the more intimate traditional bachata, making it accessible and enjoyable for dancers of all levels.
